Giro Helmet: renowned bicycle helmets
GIRO, for many cyclists, this is reminiscent of the Tour of Italy Cycling, and one would have thought that the famous helmet brand was Italian.
But that is not the case! In 1985, Jim Jentes founded GIRO, a California-based company based in SANTA CRUZ. His idea: to create a light, ventilated and good looking helmet. It was the birth of the first Giro helmet, the Prolight, which was an immediate success.
Giro will also produce winter sports helmets.
The creation of its "top-of-the-range" bicycle helmets is based on modern technologies and design.
It uses the most advanced materials to produce helmets that are lighter, well ventilated, comfortable and safe, and adaptable to all body types.
Rewarded for its efforts, the brand has now become a brand of the Easton Bell group
Sports and is the world leader in bicycle helmets and winter sports helmets. More than 2.5 million GIRO headsets are sold worldwide every year.
Giro: helmets close to the athletes
At the same time, GIRO's collaboration with many athletes has ensured that there is a perfect match between them and the brand's helmets.
This collaboration also contributed to the brand's notoriety among the general public, particularly in 1985 when the American Greg Lemond, wearing the GIRO Aerohead TM helmet, won the Tour de France with only eight seconds advantage on Laurent Fignon (for the record, it was only in 2003 that the UCI made the helmet mandatory on the Tour de France.
France).
Many cycling teams of all levels have worn or are wearing GIRO helmets.

Many cycling teams of all levels have worn or are wearing GIRO helmets.
These include team Katusha, women's champion Marianne VOS, and champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who won the world cyclo-cross championship in 2015 in Tabor, Czech Republic, wearing a GIRO Synthe helmet.
GIRO has established a partnership with the world leader in the field of optics Carl Zeiss Optics for the creation of its masks, and has extended its range to cyclist equipment (gloves, shoes, clothes).
