Sram, the American brand specialized in drivetrains and brakes
Sram is an American brand, created in 1987, in Chicago. The name Sram comes from the acronym of its founders, Scott, Ray and Sam.
The brand is specialized in bicycle parts and in particular on the transmission. Production is based in Taiwan, China, the United States, Ireland and subsidiaries are present in Germany, the Netherlands and France. The company has not stopped growing in 25 years and over time it has bought major brands such as RockShox, Truvativ, Avid, Zipp ... These different acquisitions allow Sram to be even more present on the bike and MTB spare parts market (suspensions, brakes, bottom brackets and cranksets, handlebars and rims) and to bring its know-how for the development of new components.
Innovation is at the heart of the brand since it was the brand that invented the "GripShift" shifters (the famous rotating handles) in 1988. This innovation has revolutionized the change of gears in cycling. Since then, the brand has become one of the leaders in bicycle and mountain bike transmission. With its XX, X09, XX1 MTB groupsets... the American brand offers light, robust and efficient transmissions. For the road its flagship groupsets are the Red, the Force and the Sram Rival.
Sram has launched the wireless electronic version of the Sram Red groupset: the Sram Red eTap which can be installed on any frame.
