Description
The Fulcrum E-Racing 4 Disc is the first all-round wheel specifically designed for the road pedelec segment. With a long tradition in the world of electric mountain bikes, Fulcrum has used its technical expertise to adapt to the changing demands of modern bikes and new cycling practices.
It has a specific rim profile with an internal channel of 22 mm (therefore suitable for tires from 30 to 45 mm ), special self-braking long-head nipples and adapted spokes. As observed in the development of the wheels of electric mountain bikes, the motor increases the load on the freewheel system, which must therefore withstand greater torsional stresses and for longer times: it is precisely on this detail that we focused our attention.
The freewheel body system represents the point of junction and transfer of the driving force from the cassette to the freewheel body: it is therefore subjected to greater stress due to the increase in power and strain. knocks caused by the intervention of the motor ?, this is why it was necessary to use a hardened steel freewheel body with specific plates, which is able to withstand a breaking tension 30% higher.
The analyzes carried out in the laboratory on the behavior of the various pawls on cycles exceeding a billion uses provide clear results: the case-hardened steel has an estimated life twice as long as that of the Ergal model used for bicycles traditional road
