Buying guide

The Taipan combines the advantages of ABUS helmets for road use with the requirements of the gravel lifestyle. The LED version includes a rechargeable rear light. With this gravel helmet, you can go where the asphalt ends—and the adventure begins.

Pure Escape: leave the routine behind and embark on an adventure. Whether it's a sunrise ride or an after-work session, the feeling of simply getting away is priceless. With the Taipan, you retain maximum flexibility: thanks to the glasses holder, magnetic rechargeable rear light, and washable padding.
Challenge accepted: steep climbs, interval training on dirt roads, the next spot on the podium—are you looking for a sporting challenge? With its featherweight design, aerodynamic straps, 18 ventilation openings, and ingenious air cooling system inside the helmet, the Taipan is your partner for maximum performance that makes you sweat.
Soul Ride: rediscover your favorite childhood trails or cruise for hours through the countryside with friends—the Taipan brings the feeling of childhood freedom back into your everyday life. To fully enjoy this feeling, a precise fit is essential: thanks to a discreetly enlarged inner helmet shape with room for thicker padding and an individual adjustment system compatible with ponytails, the helmet fits like a second skin.

DETAILS:

Lower edge protection: the polycarbonate (PC) outer shell covers the lower edge of the helmet and protects against scratches, impacts, and wear marks.
Ponytail compatible: thanks to the height adjustment system, the helmet is also suitable for long hairstyles such as ponytails, buns, or braids
Front glasses holder: recess at the front of the helmet to hold glasses securely and aerodynamically while riding
Acti Cage™: allows for larger ventilation openings thanks to foam reinforcement of the structure, while ensuring high stability
Reflective sticker: for better visibility in the dark
Cooling airflow system: ventilation openings are connected to each other by channels inside the helmet to direct incoming air in a targeted manner through the helmet, ensuring maximum air circulation and a comfortable climate for the head
Rechargeable magnetic rear light: attaches to the back of the helmet with magnets for better visibility - can be recharged with a USB-C charging cable
IP44: protection type that, for electronic products such as lamps, certifies protection against solid foreign bodies larger than 1 mm and against water splashes
Four different lighting modes (rear light): Steady, Power, Pulse, and Flash to choose from - adapted to light conditions and weather conditions
Operating time per mode in hours (min.): depending on weather conditions and type of use, the light can be used for at least 4.3 hours in Power mode and at least 35 hours in Flash mode
Battery charging time (light): the charging time until the battery is fully charged is approximately 1.5 hours
Zoom™ Spin adjustment system: dial at the back of the head for individual adjustment of the helmet to the head circumference
Flow Straps™: aerodynamic straps for low resistance, less noise, and greater comfort
Floating cushion: padding inside the helmet that clips onto several attachment points, making it more mobile and offering better ventilation and greater comfort
Snap closure: for safe and convenient use, the straps are equipped with a classic snap closure (triangular connection) for opening and closing
In-Mold process: Manufacturing process in which the inner shock-absorbing material made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) is injected directly into the outer polycarbonate (PC) shell, resulting in a durable and robust assembly
Weight: 295 g
