MTB hubs: essential parts of MTB wheels

The hub is the central part of the wheel to which the spokes and the rim are connected. It consists of an axle, hub body and bearings. The bearings enable the hub body and the wheel to rotate freely by means of steel or ceramic ball bearings. It's the element that allows the rotation of the wheel and that brings stability and performance to the mountain bike; its proper functioning is therefore essential.
The hub of the front wheel is different from the hub of the rear wheel which houses the freewheel with the cogset, so the choice will be made according to the transmission brand of the bicycle.

The choice will also be made according to the type of wheel: with rim brakes or with disc brakes and according to the dimension of the fork and the frame.

Finally the size of the axle will vary according to your practice: axles are oversized for Downhill for more rigidity, stability and a better yield.
