27.5 inch MTB tyre
The 27.5 inch MTB, also called 650b tire stands between the historic 26-inch tire at the origin of Mountain Biking and the newborn 29 inch. This is an intermediate offer widely used on certain types of MTBs like Enduro, All Moutain or DH bikes. It offers a compromise for riders alternating between rolling parts and technical parts. The tyre in 27.5 inches also offers an enjoyment that shouldn't be neglected since it's more reactive and playful than a 29er in technical sections.
All major tyre brands are present on the 27.5 inch tyre market.
Which 27.5 inch tyre to choose?
There is no tyre that does everything perfectly, but a whole range of products from manufacturers like Michelin, Continental, Maxxis, Schwalbe, is there to help you decide which one will be the best fit. Each manufacturer has tyres for dry, muddy or rolling terrain. In addition, when choosing the tyre, you must take into account the tyre's width, the casing, the studs profile and the type of rubber which will have a significant impact on how the tyre feels. Indeed, all these criterias impacts the tyre resistance to the ground and grip.
