Maintaining a hydraulic fork


To optimise its functioning, it is recommended for a hydraulic fork to be drained every year. The levels are done, the air is inflated, and off you go again!
Tools: Screwdriver / Socket spanner / High pressure pump / Regulator / Oil + jar

Step 1

Deflate the cartridge with a small screwdriver.

Step 2

Unscrew the cartridge with a 24 hexagon socket and a ratchet, so that the used oil can be drained.

Step 3

Drain the used oil into a measuring container. At the same time, inspect the condition of the oil (presence of residue or other).

Fill with oil, using the graduated container, according to the quantity and viscosity index recommended by the manufacturer (refer to the manual or visit the manufacturer's website).

Step 5

Refit the cartridge using the ratchet and a 24 hexagon socket, while inspecting the condition of the top seal and greasing it lightly.

Step 6

Inflate the fork with the amount of air recommended by the manufacturer (depending on the weight of the person) and make the various adjustments (rebound, low speed, etc.).
