How to change a cassette?
Change your Road or MTB cassette and extend the life of your drivetrain.
Typical tools: Chain whip / Cassette lockring tool / Grease / Degreaser / Adjustable spanner.
Remove rear wheel from bike, remove quick release skewer.
Step 1
Hold cassette in clockwise direction with a chain whip tool. Turn lockring tool counter-clockwise using an adjustable spanner.
Step 2
Lift off lockring and the sprockets.
Step 3
Check if you have play in your freehub body.
Step 4
Use a degreaser to get the grime out.
Step 5
Replace the cassette. it's important to ensure that the spacers and shims all go in their correct position.
Step 6
Fit the lockring using the lockring tool and an adjustable spanner. Refit the quick-release to the wheel and the wheel to the bike.
