Thanks to a now-continuous midsole and a widened base (wider carbon plate), the heel-to-toe transition is smoother and more stable than on version 2.
The Alphafly 3 is the lightest and most refined version in the range. It finally unifies the midsole for a more natural stride while retaining the magic bounce of ZoomX. It is the ultimate weapon for breaking your records.
Located in the forefoot, the two Air Zoom units absorb impact and instantly return energy. This is the engine of the shoe that propels you forward with every stride.
They are now better integrated into the foam for a less "mechanical" and more fluid sensation.
ZoomX foam offers the best cushioning-to-weight ratio on the market. It encapsulates the Flyplate carbon fiber plate (wider than before) for maximum propulsive rigidity.
This combination allows you to save your muscles over the king of distances: the 42.195 km marathon.
This is the major update: the sole is no longer separated into two blocks. The bottom of the shoe is continuous from heel to toe.
This corrects the main flaw of previous versions by offering a much smoother, more stable, and efficient transition, regardless of your foot strike pattern.
The Nike Alphafly 3 generally fits True to size, with a "competition" fit close to the foot thanks to the Atomknit 3.0 upper.
Our advice: Take your usual Nike running size. Putting them on is easier compared to previous versions thanks to a new integrated tongue.
Wide feet? The forefoot is relatively spacious for a racing shoe, but the fit remains precise. If you have a very wide foot, try them on first, as the carbon base does not soften.
The V3 is lighter (about 15% less). The sole is now continuous (a single block of foam) for a smoother transition, and the carbon base is slightly wider to improve stability.
Yes. Contrary to popular belief, the massive cushioning and forward roll help all runners maintain their pace. However, it remains rigid; make sure you are comfortable with carbon plates.
The Alphafly 3 has more cushioning, two air bubbles, and a more "mechanical" energy return. The Vaporfly 3 is lighter, simpler, and offers a more natural ground feel. The Alphafly is often preferred for the pure marathon, the Vaporfly for 10k/Half-Marathon (though both can do everything).
It is a competition shoe ("Race Day"). While durable for its category, the ZoomX foam and outsole are optimized for performance. Expect an optimal lifespan between 300 and 450 km before losing "pop."
Much more so than previous versions. The widened Flyplate and continuous sole provide a better platform, although it remains a high shoe (40mm) that requires attention on tight turns.
This is a known characteristic of the Alphafly: the distinctive "cloc-cloc" sound at each impact. It is still present on the V3, though slightly attenuated by the new sole geometry.
