Although high-performance, the Mach X 3 offers a wide base and a "bucket" geometry that naturally stabilizes the foot, without intrusive mechanical correction.

The Mach X 3 elevates the concept of the fast-training shoe. It retains the "magic" of the previous version's midsole while fixing its flaws with a brand-new upper for flawless step-in comfort.
The heart of the shoe lies in its sandwich construction: a top layer of PEBA foam for energy return and a firmer EVA bottom layer for stability.
This blend ensures soft cushioning on impact but extremely dynamic push-off.
Located between the two foams, the Pebax® plate acts as a lever. It is more flexible than a carbon plate, making the shoe less demanding on the muscles.
It stabilizes the PEBA foam and provides that characteristic "snap" that propels you forward as soon as you pick up the pace.
Major improvement over the Mach X 2: the upper is now made of more breathable and secure woven mesh.
The collar and tongue have been reworked to be softer and better padded, eliminating the Achilles tendon irritation issues often criticized in the previous version.
The Hoka Mach X 3 fits true to size ("True to size"). The fit is close to the foot (performance fit) to ensure good lockdown at high speed.
Our advice: Take your usual running shoe size (often one size up from your street shoe size).
Wide feet? The forefoot volume is standard. If you have wide feet, the fit might be a bit tight; the "Wide" version (if available) is recommended.
The midsole (PEBA foam + Pebax plate) remains very similar. The major difference is in the upper. The Mach X 3 offers a more breathable woven mesh, a softer tongue, and a reworked heel collar to fix the irritation issues of the previous version.
The Mach 6 is a lightweight shoe without a plate, using supercritical EVA foam, ideal for daily training. The Mach X 3 integrates a Pebax® plate and higher-performance PEBA foam, making it faster, bouncier, but also a bit heavier and more expensive.
No, it uses a Pebax® plate. This material is rigid and propulsive, but more flexible than carbon. This makes the shoe more forgiving and comfortable for daily training than a "pure carbon" shoe like the Rocket X 2.
It is very versatile. Its significant cushioning (stack > 40mm at the heel) allows you to run up to the marathon without issue. Its responsiveness also makes it very enjoyable for shorter distances like 10km or half-marathon.
It is a neutral shoe, but stable ("Stable Neutral"). Its ground base is wide and the lower EVA foam layer is firmer, which secures the landing, even with the significant midsole height.
Unlike some pure competition shoes (often fragile), the Mach X 3 has a generous layer of rubber on the outsole, ensuring good durability comparable to a classic training shoe.
It is possible thanks to its comfort, but it performs best when you pick up the pace. For pure recovery jogs, a Clifton 9 or Skyflow will be softer and more flexible.
