What pace for a 1 hour 10k ?
If you want to cover 10 km in under one hour, you'll need to run at 10 km/h, maintaining an average pace of 6 minutes per kilometre. Most running shoes are suitable for this. Among the best-sellers are Nike Pegasus, Hoka Clifton and Asics Nimbus.
What pace for a Sub50 10k ?
To run 10 km in under 50 minutes, you'll need to maintain a pace of 12 km/h, or around 5 minutes per kilometre. Here again, most running shoes are suitable.
What pace for a Sub40 10k ?
If your aim is to run 10 km in under 40 minutes, you'll need to maintain a steady speed of 15 km/h, averaging 4 minutes per kilometre. At this level, specialised road running shoes may be useful, like the Nike Vaporfly, the Hoka rocket X orSaucony's Endorphin range.
What pace for a Sub35 10k ?
To complete a 10 km run in under 35 minutes, you will need to run at 17.1 km/h, or an average of 3 minutes 30 seconds per kilometre. At this pace, we recommend using road race running shoes.
What pace for a Sub30 10k ?
If you're aiming for 10 km in under 30 minutes, you'll need to maintain a steady speed of 20 km/h, averaging 3 minutes per kilometre. And if you can, well you probably don't need our advice anymore !
What is the 10km world record?
The men's 10km road race world record is held by Kenya's Rhonex Kipruto, with a time of 26 minutes and 24 seconds, set on 12 January 2020 in Valencia, Spain. Note that this record was achieved without carbon plate shoes: Kipruto was wearing Adidas Takumi Sen 5, ultra-light shoes that have since been replaced by Takumi Sen 8 (with carbon plate).
In the women's category, Ethiopian Yalemzerf Yehualaw holds the world record for the 10km road race, with a time of 29 minutes and 14 seconds, set in Castellón, Spain, in February 2022 (wearing Nike Vaporfly Next% 2s).
The world records for the 10,000 metres on the track are held by Joshua Cheptgei (26 minutes 11 seconds) for the men and Letesenbet Gidey (29 minutes 3 seconds) for the women.
