The art of belaying starts here! Whether indoors or on the crag, the GRIGRI + is a cam-assisted belay device for lead and top-rope climbing. With its panic handle, it is particularly well-suited for teaching climbers how to descend. It’s also the ideal partner for top-roping, thanks to its ASSIST+ mode, which makes it easier to take up slack. It works with all single ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm. DETAILS:

Belay device with cam-assisted locking and anti-panic handle, optimized for top-roping:
- allows for belaying both lead and top-rope climbs,
- suitable for learning to lower a climber, thanks to its panic handle: if the belayer pulls too hard on the handle, the panic mechanism engages to stop the rope from running out,
- optimized for learning to belay in top-rope mode: ASSIST+ mode pre-activates the cam lock to facilitate taking up slack and limit the risk of the rope running through the device in the event of an accidental release,
- Belting comfort, thanks to cam-assisted locking: during a fall or when the climber is resting, the rope tightens due to the action of the hand on the braking side; the cam pivots and grips the rope to lock it.
Ease of use:
- easy rope setup, thanks to the markings engraved on the belay device,
- operating technique common to all Petzl belay devices, based on guiding the rope through the device and keeping one hand on the rope on the braking side at all times,
- cam-assisted locking offering a wide range of hand positions on the braking side, regardless of the angle between the climber’s rope and the braking rope,
- Compatible with all single dynamic ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm and optimized for diameters between 8.9 and 10.5 mm.
