In the shortened version, the double material provides extra warmth. When "stretched", a fully-fledged 3D foot compartment is created. Another advantage of this warm, comfortable sleeping bag for children and teenagers is that its cut is narrower than that of adult sleeping bags, so it has to warm up less superfluous air.
