Silca Super Secret Chain Lubricant was born out of a project to develop the fastest hot melt wax lubricant available on the market over a year ago.
Josh has been recommending hot melt wax and helping professional cyclists and triathletes wax their chains for years. He wanted to make his lubricant formula available to our customers, but the challenge was to melt, soak and agitate the chain consistently, regardless of the model and temperature of the pressure cooker.
The project took a fascinating turn from the world of IndyCar when Josh was introduced to a group that had developed a technology to put micro-scale wax powders into a solution that dried quickly and formed a coating indistinguishable from a hot melt dip.
The combination of air-drying liquid wax and tungsten disulfide quickly proved to be superior to any hot-melt wax currently available in friction testing, while being much faster and easier to apply.
