Description
absoluteBLACK Premium Shimano 110/4 bcd compatible oval chainrings are designed for new type of Shimano cranks Dura-Ace 9100, Ultegra 8000 & 105 R7000. Super fast shifting and amazing smoothness of pedaling. (They can be also retrofitted to 9000 and 6800 cranks). It is the most Premium oval chainring on the market with scientifically proven performance gains. 10/11spd compatible.
Oval chain rings don't produce more power, they increase pedaling efficiency through better power transmission. This means that you won't necessarily go further by pedaling harder. But the less force you lose, the more energy you keep, allowing you to pedal harder when you need to and thus reducing your general fatigue. That's why you can ride faster, longer and further with oval chainrings.
Studies conducted by the University of Primorska, Slovenia, show significant differences between the use of AbsoluteBlack Oval chainrings and conventional round chainrings. It is proven that using an oval chainring can provide up to a 9% increase in pedal stroke efficiency, up to 7% less oxygen consumption, 15% less breathing and up to a 10% decrease in heart rate.
They will also fit all 9000 and 6800 series cranks, but use screw covers for best appearance.
Compatible : 10/11 Speed
Designed in the UK. Made in Poland (EU).
Material : CNC machined 7075 Txxx aluminum. Long life construction. Type II anodizing.
Optimized for each size separately. 34T- 6.5%; 36T, 38T, 39T- 11.4%, 50/52/53T - 10-11.2%; Timing 108 -110.5° after TDC (top dead center) - Ideal for road climbing. Patent pending.
Important :
Ramps on large chainrings are specially configured for combinations: 50/34, 52/36, 52/38, 53/39T
The 34t Premium Series inner chainring is not compatible with dataloggers that use a circular spider (SRAM Quarq, Power2Max, etc).
If you wish to use another configuration, it will work as well, but the front derailleur will be slower and require more adjustment to be acceptable.
Also remember that the front derailleur can only accept a maximum difference of 16T between 2 chainrings - that's how Shimano and Sram designed them.
Absolute Black always recommend using a new chain when fitting new chainrings.
Advantages :
A unique special oval shape that helps you climb easier and faster (patent pending).
15% more rigidity than Rotor Qrings due to a 5mm thicker construction.
The ramp and 6-point recess design of the Absolute Black deck is better than any other brand or model of oval deck.
The thinner design offers an excellent strength to weight ratio.
You won't feel the oval shape while pedaling.
Your pedaling action will be smoother.
Helps reduce stress on the knees and helps your legs stay cooler longer.
You will be able to maintain a better cadence when climbing.
Reduces the risk of leg cramps
You will reduce chainring and sprocket changes by at least 15%.
HOW TO ADJUST FRONT DERAILLEUR WITH ABSOLUTEBLACK ROAD OVAL CHAINRINGS :
To proceed with the adjustment you will need 2 mm and 5 mm Allen keys.
If your derailleur overshifts the chain when moving from small ring to the big ring, it means your "gap" is greater than 2 mm when chain is on big chainring (see video). You may need to reduce the gap. Your front derailleur may also be too high compared to what is advised on the video. Last thing to check is if your cage is parallel to the big chainring face.
If your front derailleur is hesitating to shift from small to the big ring then two issues may be present. The "gap" may be too small (It has to be 2mm - see video) or your cage is not parallel to the big chainring face.
HOW TO MOUNT 110/4 9100 / 8000 OVAL CHAINRING :
First, you need to remove your crank from your bike. Once removed, unscrew the 4 bolts that hold two chainrings together with a T-30 torx key. Remove both original rings. Locate the new oval inner chainring with the triangular timing indicator positioned behind crank arm. The bolt holes on the small chainring are recessed – so the nut heads will sit flush with the surface of the chainring - these recesses should face you when mounting the bolts. Absolute Black outer chainring has a specific shape of mounting tabs so it will only fit one way on the crank arm. If you are only switching the inner chainring to oval - use the original bolts that came with your crank. If you are switching to a pair of oval rings, you will need a set of regular ‘double’ chainring bolts or our set of Bolt covers. Tighten all four bolts with force of about 5-7Nm. Mount your crank back to the bike. You may also need to adjust the front derailleur slightly
