Buying guide

High Fructose Gel provides 55 g of carbohydrates and 250 mg of sodium per gel, derived from maltodextrin and fructose in a 10:8 ratio. This formula is based on “multiple transportable carbohydrates”; studies have shown that, during prolonged exercise, consuming carbohydrates absorbed in the intestine via various transporters is the only way to increase the rate of assimilation and oxidation of exogenous carbohydrates beyond 60 g/hour.

DETAILS:

MALTODEXTRIN:
- It is absorbed in the intestine via the SLGT1 cotransporter and is converted into glucose, allowing it to enter cells and provide them with energy more quickly.
- Maltodextrin has a high glycemic index, rapidly increases blood glucose levels, and releases energy instantly.
- Rapid gastric emptying is facilitated by its high molecular weight and low osmolarity, which aids digestion and reduces gastrointestinal side effects.
FRUCTOSE:
- It is absorbed in the intestine via GLUT5 transporters, which differ from those that absorb other carbohydrates. Absorbed fructose travels from the intestine to the liver via GLUT2 transporters and replenishes liver glycogen stores depleted during intense physical exercise.
- This results in a sustained absorption that releases energy constantly and gradually. That is why the combination of maltodextrin and fructose allows for the digestion and absorption of a high amount of carbohydrates per hour, while minimizing potential stomach issues.
