Buying guide

There are many reasons to choose this best-selling children’s helmet, the SMILEY 3.0. The FL.ACE LED version adds a particularly practical feature to these already compelling reasons: the magnetic chin strap.

Many parents and children agree: sometimes, the chin strap buckle can be a bit tricky to use. It can even happen that the skin gets caught. In contrast, the Fidlock magnetic closure makes putting on the helmet a breeze—and getting your skin caught is also a thing of the past.
Whether kids are biking to daycare, learning to ride, sitting in a bike seat, or taking their first rides, their heads need special protection. But for them to enjoy wearing their new kids’ helmet, it has to do more than just protect them.

Benefits of a Favorite Helmet

Safety or fun? The SMILEY 3.0 for young children proves it: you can have both. The variety of designs, featuring different colors and patterns, ensures every child can find their favorite helmet.
The child-friendly design, the precisely adjustable fit, and the braided-style opening for noticeable comfort—along with the magnetic closure for easy use—make this children’s helmet a bike helmet that kids love to wear.

Stay Safe on the Go

In addition, the SMILEY 3.0 FL.ACE LED offers the usual safety features, so children are perfectly equipped for their first attempts at biking and the great adventures of a bike ride:

Reflective stickers and a rechargeable taillight ensure better visibility
The deep contouring at the nape of the neck and temples provides extra protection
The child-friendly helmet design with a flattened back allows for a natural head position when the child is leaning against the bike seat or trailer, provided the rear light is attached
Mosquito nets in the front ventilation openings

TECHNOLOGIES of the Abus Smiley 3.0 Flace LED Helmet:

Magnetic closure: To allow the chin strap to be opened with one hand—even while wearing gloves—the straps are equipped with a high-quality FIDLOCK magnetic closure
Lower edge protection: The polycarbonate (PC) outer shell covers the lower edge of the helmet and protects against scratches, impacts, and wear and tear
Ponytail opening: Thanks to the recess in the height adjustment system, the helmet is also suitable for long hairstyles such as ponytails, buns, or braids
Child-friendly helmet shape: flattened back of the helmet for a natural head position—greater comfort when leaning against a bike trailer or child seat, and less pressure on the neck
Reflective sticker: for better visibility in the dark
Insect protection net: keeps flies and gnats away from your head without blocking the helmet’s ventilation
Rechargeable clip-on tail light: attaches to the back of the helmet for better visibility—can be recharged with a micro-USB charging cable
Three different lighting modes (rear light): Steady for continuous light, Power for even more intense continuous light, and Flash for rapid flashing
Operating time per mode in hours (min): Depending on weather conditions and usage, the light lasts at least 2.5 hours in steady mode and at least 6 hours in flashing mode.
Battery charging time (light): The charging time to fully charge the battery is approximately 1 hour
Zoom™ Spin adjustment system: a dial on the back of the head for individual adjustment of the helmet to the head circumference
Flap Divider™: strap divider for individual adjustment of the under-ear straps—with a clip closure to secure the adjusted position
Comfort pads: soft padding inserts for optimal comfort, secured to the helmet with Velcro
Removable and washable padding: can be removed and hand-washed or replaced as needed
In-Mold Process: A manufacturing process in which the inner shock-absorbing material made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) is directly injected into the outer polycarbonate (PC) shell, resulting in a durable and robust construction
